Ingredients

  • 2 pcs Basa fillets
  • 1 medium lemon
  • 2 tbsp olive oil extra virgin
  • salt and pepper optional
  • parsley for garnish optional

Instructions

  • Rinse the Basa fillets under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel. Season both sides of the fillets with salt and pepper.
  • Heat the olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Once the oil is hot, carefully place the Basa fillets into the skillet, skin side down if they have skin. Sear them for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they turn golden brown and easily flake with a fork.
  • While the fillets are cooking, cut the lemon in half and squeeze the juice over the fish during the last minute of cooking. You can also place a few lemon slices in the skillet for added flavor.
  • Once the fish is cooked through, remove it from the skillet and transfer it to a serving plate.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley (optional) and serve the pan-seared lemon Basa fish with your favorite side dishes like roasted vegetables, quinoa, or a refreshing salad.

Notes

  • Make sure to pat dry the basa fillets before seasoning and cooking. This will help achieve a crispy sear.
  • Adjust the cooking time depending on the thickness of the fillets. Thicker fillets may require slightly longer cooking time.
  • Experiment with different herbs and spices to customize the flavor of the dish. Basil, thyme, or dill can be excellent additions.
  • Squeezing fresh lemon juice over the cooked fish just before serving will enhance the citrusy flavor.
  • For an extra touch of richness, melt a tablespoon of butter in the skillet before adding the fillets.
  • Serve the pan-seared basa fish with a side of steamed vegetables or a refreshing salad to complete the meal.
  • Avoid overcrowding the skillet to ensure even cooking. If needed, cook the fillets in batches.
  • Take care when flipping the fillets to prevent them from breaking. A wide spatula can be helpful for gently flipping the fish.
  • If you prefer a spicier kick, sprinkle some red pepper flakes or paprika on the fillets before searing.
  • Allow the fish to rest for a couple of minutes after cooking. This will help the flavors to settle and ensure moist and tender fillets.
